I stumbled across this hat pattern that could be the base of our hard hat(please excuse the eyelash yarn):
Would anyone be able to tweak it a bit so it looks more like a hard hat?

I love to knit! I'm on Ravelry too, and I watch Dirty Jobs all the time! I keep them recording on my DVR and my husbad is always like, You really like this show!, I'm like.. yea! Un huh. LOL
